Steve ends up in that cushy office job he thought he’d get from his father in season two. It’s soul breakingly boring. Eddie is a (water delivery guy? Was that a thing in the 90’s?) who shows hints of being a rebel against society, despite his own forced business professionalism. As the only interesting thing in Steve’s life these days, the only break in the monotony, he’s drawn to him. It’s a slow thing, Steve rationalizing his crush as not gay, he just needs a friend.
