I'm talking a truly monstrous looking Eddie, who is barely recognizable as having once been human - wings, weird eyes, weird mouth, tails, whatever. Can be vampire!Eddie or just mutated Upside Down!Eddie, whatever floats your boat.
Post S4, Steve gets separated from his team in the Upside Down during a recon mission and is attacked by the monsters. He's trying his best to fend them off and retreat, but he's just one guy against a whole horde of Upside Down monsters. Eventually one of them gets a good swipe in and Steve is down. He thinks he's about to die, only for another monster to swoop down in front of him, quickly tearing through the other creatures until it's the only one left. And to Steve's surprise, it doesn't try to kill him. Instead, it clumsily tries to staunch the blood from his wound.
Steve is very confused and freaking out, until he sees the faded bat tattoos on the creature's arm and he realizes who his rescuer is.
