When Steve is caught kissing Billy in the locker room, everyone who learns about it is quick to assume that they were hooking up. Cue lots of ribbing and judgment from the Party and the older teens (not for homophobic reasons, just because it's Billy) that Steve just takes with an awkward smile.
What no one knows is that Billy's assaulted Steve several times before and was doing it again when they were caught. Steve, for whatever reason, doesn't tell a soul. The teasing only stops when Billy shows up to look for Max (or whatever reason) and taunts the older teens with graphic details about everything he did to Steve and how he sounded begging for Billy to stop.
