Of course Steve and Nancy are that couple, the one who own a cottage at the beach and spend summers out there, tanned and beautiful and half clothed. Steve’s used to being the master of a good date. Sure he never found His Girl, but he provided them enough fun that they’d take him to bed. Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan are an established throuple but they get weird looks every time they go on dates in public given they’re three people instead of two. Robin agrees to be Steve’s beard and tags along on their dates so it looks like they’re on a double date rather than Steve third-wheeling Jonathan and Nancy. Perfect solution, everyone’s happy…except the more “dates” Robin goes on, the more time she spends around Nancy and develops feelings for her, and the more she starts to wish the dates maybe weren’t completely fake. Would love a happy ending where Nancy reciprocates the feelings and they bring Robin into the polycule!

Bonus if Robin feels guilty at first for her feelings for Nancy given that Steve’s dating her and Steve is Robin’s best friend, and bonus bonus if Steve (and Jonathan) were totally cool with it. Can maybe see them thinking that they love Nancy and that she deserves all the love in the world so why would they have an issue with Robin loving her too??

Mike/the party + Nancy have to deal with the fact that Billy and Karen are outright seeing each other and the Wheeler household is in shambles at the cheating (though Ted barely has the energy to care). Karen's motivations are up to you.
For Billy, he does legitimately love Karen in a mommy issues way. While he is deeply problematic (bully/racist), make sure that he is a reasonable human otherwise and not some monster. Karen is literally the light of his life.

Very dark concept, but I do think that if Billy and Robin ever interacted, Billy would do what he does with most women and flirt with her, which would of course be swiftly rejected by Robin. And if Billy then heard rumours about Robin being a lesbian? Maybe he'd try to remind her that her place in this world is to be used by men.

Bonus points if this is during her tenure at Scoops Ahoy and this is also a ploy to "take something" from Steve. Maybe Billy can tell Steve has a misguided crush on Robin or just the fact that they're friends irks him?

After the events of season 2, Billy keeps his promise to leave Max and her friends alone - only, he doesn't include Steve on the list of Max's friends. He starts to bully and belittle Steve, increasing in intensity over the school year, until Steve is firmly ousted from any and all of his friends and allies at Hawkins High. Isolated and tormented, Steve gets desperate to escape from what feels like a never ending deluge of trauma.

+Steve's allies are concerned, but Steve can barely admit that he's being bullied, much less seek out help from them.
+Billy is a nuanced villain but not in any way redeemed or sympathetic.
++Steve does find some new friends - maybe he meets Robin or Eddie early? Preference to Robin though.
++Steve gets Carrie'd (or there being some major bullying event at prom)

This is 100% from doing the math and realizing that MCU Tony Stark being born in 1970 means he's only one year older than the Party.

Dustin goes to Camp Know Where, where he meets a young Tony Stark, who is hoping to lie low for the summer before he heads off to MIT in the fall. This backfires as 1) all the other campers are huge nerds and definitely know who he is and 2)Tony is an extremely rich city kid and a sleepaway camp out in the middle of nowhere is...an adjustment. Tony and Dustin are assigned to the same cabin. They immediately hate each other's guts, and strive to outdo the other at every opportunity.
