Jonathan and Nancy have worked through their miscommunication and relationship issues and are together and really happy and now spend all their time together, leaving Argyle and Steve feeling lonely and jealous. Maybe Argyle is jealous because he misses hanging out with his friend OR maybe he’s jealous because he had feelings for Jonathan and was sort of selfishly hoping Jonathan and Nancy would break up for good. Steve is jealous because his feelings for Nancy are obviously not returned (but bonus if you go a stoncy/stonathan route, and Steve is also jealous because he had some feelings for Jonathan too). So with Nancy and Jonathan busy with each other, and maybe Robin and Vickie are busy with each other too, by default Steve and Argyle start hanging out and commiserating together about Jonathan and Nancy and it ends with them growing closer, realizing they have feelings for each other, and getting together. Maybe Steve and Argyle even start fake-dating to make Nancy and Jonathan jealous only to realize they have stronger feelings for each other??? Or maybe they just get together after they become friends and start developing feelings. I just want more fics of these two lol

Steve saved Eddie’s life in the UD and afterwards, he and Eddie got together.

Eddie’s name was cleared, and while it’s the 80s and they obviously have to be careful in general, all of their friends and Wayne know about their relationship and are happy for them and Eddie’s self-esteem is getting better now that he has this big extended family who accept him for who he is, despite still being pretty much the town pariah.

Then, something happens and Steve ends up hurting Eddie (nothing unforgivable like cheating or abuse, just a misunderstanding or something, but Steve is definitely at fault) and they break up.

Steve won’t talk about it with anyone (because he’s feeling guilty) and the rest of the gang makes the assumption that Eddie is to blame and end up automatically taking Steve’s side since they’ve known him longer.

Eddie ends up ostracized from everyone but Wayne and feeling like the ‘Freak’ again on top of the pain of the breakup.

Steve has no idea this is happening, but once it comes to a head (maybe they uninvite Eddie to a party or something), his protective instincts kick in and he lets the gang know they were wrong and it’s the kick in the butt he needs to start fixing his mess.

As far as S4 canon goes, I only care about Eddie being alive and Jason being dead, Max’s fate is 100% up for grabs.

Make up sex isn’t necessary, but if you want to include it, I wouldn’t complain. lol. Bottom!Eddie please.

Eddie is a storytelling sci fi&fantasy loving queer boy in the late eighties, there’s no way he didn’t submit queer fic to zines. The only major fandom I know about back then is Star Trek, but feel free to use any eighties or earlier canon.

Set post S4, with the Upside Down leaking into the real world.

As information about what caused the end of the world spreads, a cult begins to form around Henry Creel. Said cultists encounter Steve and capture him, intending to offer him to Creel in return for being spared. They fail to understand that doing so directly contradicts Creel's "survival of the fittest" mindset and can only end badly for them.

Creel is all too happy to take the opportunity to try and turn one of his enemies to his side. He appears in his human form at first so Steve mistakes him for a cultist and tries to reason with him.

Steve and Eddie wake up one morning pre-season one (so pre-character-arc for Steve) in the other's body. Eddie immediately goes about trying to implode the social life of "King Steve", while Steve experiences what it's like to be the School Freak firsthand and discovers - surprise! - it kind of sucks. Eddie's enthusiasm for blowing up Steve's reputation at school starts to dim when he realizes just how empty Steve's home life is and starts to miss Wayne, while Steve is unused to actually having a parental figure who seems to actually...care? About him? And Steve likes it? After Steve and Eddie get on the same page, they begin to work together to try to figure out how to switch back. And then they start to fall in love with each other...

The party finally gets Steve to join in a D&D campaign. And Steve hates it.

He feels like he's always 3 steps behind everyone else, he doesn't understand the game mechanics. And after the 4th or 5th sigh for the others, he stops asking Eddie to explain things because he's holding up the game. He can't pronounce half of the towns or creature/character names, let alone keep track of which is which.

It feels like school, Steve walking into a test that he thought he studied well enough for only not recognize half the words and end up handing in a blank test sheet. To Steve this highlights just how smart the kids are (and how dumb he is)

So when the session ends, Steve gets up and walks to the bathroom and just cries.

+I'd love to see the party (and even Eddie) not really noticing Steve’s discomfort until the end of the session (either he hides it well or everyone is so engrossed in the game)
++The party has been playing a while, and really haven't dealt with new players so I could see them being very opinionated and judgemental of Steve's choices.

When Steve is caught kissing Billy in the locker room, everyone who learns about it is quick to assume that they were hooking up. Cue lots of ribbing and judgment from the Party and the older teens (not for homophobic reasons, just because it's Billy) that Steve just takes with an awkward smile.

What no one knows is that Billy's assaulted Steve several times before and was doing it again when they were caught. Steve, for whatever reason, doesn't tell a soul. The teasing only stops when Billy shows up to look for Max (or whatever reason) and taunts the older teens with graphic details about everything he did to Steve and how he sounded begging for Billy to stop.

In continuing with the theme of the duo getting bad jobs together, it’s December, and they get a seasonal job of elves for the mall Santa. Once again, the uniforms are that weird mix of embarrassing and slutty. We’re talking dumb hats and shoes with bells attached, and skin tight, ass sculpting, bulge revealing red and green leggings.

Ship of your choice, though I gravitate to Stoncy and Steddie for Steve, and Ronance for Robin. I just want someone to start spending a suspicious amount of time at the mall, constantly checking out their crush in Christmas fetish uniform.

-Bonus points for Steve or Robin to not see the uniform as sexy at all, but willing to wear it for a changing room fuck for their crush

Basically there's this program where convict's become firefighters right.
So an au where Eddie was in jail after being falsely accused of killing Chrissy, and is released on the terms he works with the firefighter program.
He ends up back in Hawkins even though he wants to be placed somewhere else.
And guess whose's the firefighter in charge of his program: Steve. This can be written anyway you'd like.

Mike is sure he’s going to present Alpha to El’s Omega, and live happily ever after. Only he’s an Omega too. It’s either Max or Will, their two Alphas, who can get him through his heat. It has to be within the Party, Omegas are notorious truth tellers when in heat, there are laws about police inducing heats in suspects. At this point, with so many deadly secrets in the air, Mike can’t afford to blab to just any Alpha.

It’s awkward. He’s not gay, he doesn’t want to be doing this with Will, it’s okay if Will is gay, but Wheeler men aren’t like that. (fyi he’s obviously bi) But El is doing it with Max on the regular, has been for a while because Will’s obviously not an option, and Mike knows he’s not Max’s favourite Party member. What’s the lesser of two evils?

I’d just love a s4 fic where when Max tries to pull away from the Party, Mike is the one friendship that lasts. Canonically Mike lost his shit when he thought El was dead, not turning in assignments and cursing out teachers and vandalizing things. He gets how death can make you feel bitter and mad at the people trying to move on. Mike lets her be upset in a way that no one else will.

Even when Max admits that she hates herself because she used to fantasize about Billy being dead, Mike takes it with ease. He thinks the same thing about Ted. It’s less outright physical abuse, more constant indifference and ridicule about his interests, and mocking/disrespecting his friends, and withering Mom to a shell of herself. Nobody gets it, everyone else has extremes, like Dustin’s abandonment or Will’s abuse, or El’s kidnapping, or Steve’s intense neglect, no one gets how damaging constant raking over the coals gets. Max gets it. They both hate their homes.

Gen friendship fic is cool, but I’m also fine with them growing attracted to each other.

Steve and Eddie have been working together as firefighters for a few years. Their close, there's a lot of unresolved tension. One day on a call everything goes wrong and Eddie gets hurt. He wakes up not remembering the last four years. But seeing this hot as hell guy sitting in the chair beside him, worried out of his mind. And immediately assumes that this is his husband. And Steve had no idea what to do, the doctors say telling him the truth might make things worse. So he has to pretend that yes their married. While pinning a lot, to awkward too know what to do.

Another firefighter au lol
Basically the fire department is hosting a program to get teenagers interested by teaching them different skills. Steve, who is a hot mess after his recent break up reluctantly agreed to help run it. Not knowing that Munson from station 5, his ex was also helping.
The second day of the event, things start going wrong around the town. And these two idoits are left in charge of like half a dozen teenagers. When they can barely look each other in the eyes. So they have to keep this teenager safe as the two goes to hell. And try not to think a out why their relationship ended.

Steve Harrington was a reluctant scout leader. He got eagle scout at 13, and promptly quit. His parents wanted him to overachieve, and he did it. He thought that was the end until his Dustin needed an adult for a camping trip.

Eddie was a pretty shitty boyscout. He barely ever rose ranks, made a pretty bad Spl, and was awful at knots. But he hosts great DND campaigns on trips and is the favorite scout leader.

On a camping trip the pair, and their scouts get lost in the woods for 72 hours. It would be better if Mike would stop complaining,Lucas hadn't forgotten his sweatshirt, and if Will wasn't missing.

I was today years old when I found out in the 80s K Y Jelly changed from a prescription medication to a behind the counter, but prescription-less medication. Give me Steve or Eddie arguing if it’s more embarrassing if Joyce is at the Melvald’s counter and Knows What They’re Doing, or if it’s some crusty old guy who refuses to sell it to them. I’m also cool with aged up Dustin/Lucas/Max/El/Mike/Will.

-any kind of AU world building, where The Great Hide is a ritual of some kind. It doesn’t matter who’s canonically dating, it’s like the purge, those 6 hours don’t count towards real life.
-everyone is bisexual AU, and Robin’s oddness is monosexuality for women, not thst she likes women.
-Lucas and Max hiding together.

One of the tapes Family Video gets in for Christmas is the 1959 Mexican movie 'Santa Claus', a/k/a 'Santa Claus vs. The Devil', a/k/a 'That one really weird Mexican Santa Claus movie badly dubbed into English by K. Gordon Murray that MST3K made fun of in 1993.' Eddie rents it and he and Steve watch it at Steve's house for a laugh. It is just as strange as promised.

"Here, in truth, is a poor little rich boy. He has all the toys a little boy could wish for, yet, he is sad and lonely. Lonely for his parents. In spite of all he has, he lacks the most important thing in life: the company of his mother and father."

Steve is expecting the movie to be a stupid, if seasonally appropriate, waste of time (it's about Santa Claus fighting the Devil - his hopes are extremely low). He's not expecting the subplot about the little rich boy left alone in his enormous empty house on Christmas Eve while his parents go out to a restaurant by themselves to hit so goddamn close to home.

Because the parents of the little boy in the movie eventually realized they were hurting their son and came home to spend time with him. That never happened to Steve.

(And now Steve has to explain to Eddie why the dumb Mexican Santa Claus movie is making him misty-eyed.)
